Animal Behavior

Since 30 years, fish reproductive behavior has been one of the issues that characterized the research at the Hydrobiological Station Umberto D'Ancona. During this time, the initial focus on hermaphroditism has moved to the actual research on courtship behaviour, territoriality, competition between and among males, parental cares. Several gobies and blennies, as well as the killifish, the smelt and some breams are among the studied species.For more information about current researches click here.
